How to Do the Band Curl: Form, Sets, Progression
The Band Curl is a band exercise that mainly works your biceps. Beginners start with 2 sets of 12–15 reps and try one more rep next time.
Form in 3 steps
- Stand on the middle of the band with both feet and hold the ends with your palms facing forward.
- Keep your elbows pinned to your sides. Breathe out and curl the band up toward your shoulders.
- Squeeze your biceps for 1 second at the top, then breathe in and slowly lower your arms.
Common mistakes
- Elbows drifting forward: your shoulders do the lifting. Keep your elbows pinned to your sides.
- Leaning back: you start using momentum. Stand tall and move only your arms.
- Letting the band pull your hands down: you lose half the benefit. Take about 2 seconds to lower.

FAQ
Can I do the Band Curl instead of dumbbell curls?
Yes, it's a great way to train your biceps at home. Bands get harder the higher you curl. If it feels too easy, step on the band with a shorter length or use a stronger band.
